Vinyl Record
I remember back when I was at university, which was nearly a decade ago (shh!!) I used to wear green, blue and orange nail polish colours on my toes (not at the same time) and people used to think it was weird. Up to that time here in Barbados the most common nail polish colours were reds, bronzes and browns. Sometimes people used to stop and ask me why I was wearing such "outrageous" colours and I just used to shrug and reply it was simply because I liked them. Most of the time people would just shake their heads in disbelief. When I wore black nail polish, I used to get asked often if I was turning goth. LOL!
Then a few years ago I started wearing nude nail polishes and taupey browns on my nails because I saw them in a magazine and I liked how they looked. My coworkers vehemently disagreed with that. They thought that the nude colours were ugly and that the taupe browns looked like mud. But I didn't care, I still wore them because I liked them. Fast forward now to 2012 and now 2013, bright colours are popping up everywhere and no one is batting an eyelid. Everyone is seeking the perfect nude colour. It does make me smile a little on the inside I must confess.
Now what does all of that have to do with L.A. Girls Disco Brites nail polish? Nothing much really, I just wanted to share. I spotted these inside a small beauty supply store that I don't regularly frequent, so I can't accurately recall the name but I do remember that the nail polish cost BDS$5.99 a bottle. They had the entire display of the L.A. Girls Disco Brites collection. I had never used a L.A. Girls nail polish before so I didn't know what the quality would be like so I only bought one. I always wanted a bright blue creme nail polish so I chose Vinyl Records. The brush applicator is small but it applies the polish nicely to the nail bed (it looks kinda messy in the photos because I still can't paint my nails for shit, so that's on me not the product) and it only needs two coats for opacity. The formula isn't runny nor is it too thick, it's nicely in the middle. I would wait at least twenty minutes to ensure that nails are completely dry before engaging in any activities.
I was feeling a bit 80s so I added the pink stripe (OPI Shorts Story) as an accent on the ring finger. I definately plan to pick up some more of these nail polishes as the wear time is also quite decent, about four days before the tips start to look worn and that's because I'm always either picking, scratching or have my hand in something and I do a fair amount of typing. Rating: 4/5.

I love this colour. I had 2 polishes from this collection, the purple (turntable) and teal (hustle), are quite nice but boy do they stain...
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear that. This one didn't stain my nails. I use Orly Nail Defense as my base coat.
